Our new What's On with a hint of Italian cinematography

Big things are happening in Cardiff. I am sure that you have spotted some of the matches from the Rugby World Cup have been played at the Millennium Stadium, but lets not stay only with sport and bring some culture into our lives.
Next week Cardiff is hosting the first Italian Film Festival that wants to bring to Wales a dynamic and diverse portrait of Italy. The films that have been chosen try to cover narratives and diverse genres of Italian cinematography. ITALIAN FILM FESTIVAL CARDIFF

The first ever Italian Film Festival Cardiff brings to Wales a dynamic and diverse
portrait of Italy, its contemporary society and its contradictions. The celebrated 
LGBT Iris Prize Film Festival will kick-start the event with a coming of age story 
(Darker than Midnight) dealing with the controversial issue of gender in 
contemporary Italy. Davide is fourteen years old. Heis delicate and effeminate
looks do not fit in with his father’s ideas of what a boy should be like. Fleeing the 
constant conflicts at home, he is drawn to Catania’s biggest public park, Villa Bellini, 
whose regulars live on the margins of society.

THE MIGRANT with TENDONS & BENJAMIN MASON

The Migrant is the moniker of danish songwriter Bjarke Bendtsen and the musicians 
backing him.  Together, they wander through folk-pop tunes with an elastic, 
psychedelic haze. The new album is doused with 70s guitars and more power, while 
maintaining Bendtsen’s high trill and hypnotic songs that have drawn comparison 
to George Harrison, Radiohead and Fleet Foxes.

feel-good musical that takes you through the kitchen door, Half 'n 'Half is a unique

A Film: MACBETH

bloodthirsty plays, Macbeth's themes of hubris, betrayal and dishonour now get 
a visceral, dynamic reworking.
