Love drumming? Go for Whiplash! Our new What's On is here!

I can't believe that it has only been three weeks since Christmas. Some of my friends have already started thinking about going for holidays- already! Well I don't have so much luck and I have to think more about work. Don't worry if you have the same problem, you are not alone. If you have some free time though, here are some suggestions about what you can do in your spare time.
I am the kind of person who just loves music and films, and if there is a film about music I am in seventh heaven. So my film recommendation for next week is Whiplash. I thought that it was going to be a comedy or something light-hearted, and in some places it did seem like that, but most of the time I was quite horrified. The film is about a young and talented jazz drummer who studies at a music conservatory and his big dream is to become a famous drummer. He is willing to do anything to achieve this and takes every opportunity that he can. In the school there are a couple of bands and he is very interested in one particularly. The main conductor is well-known as a great teacher, but maybe it is because no one actually knows his teaching practices. If you have the feeling, while watching, that you are not in the music school, but in the middle of rugby training or in a boot camp, you'll be right. And beating students and shouting at them because of their lack of rhythm is only the start. The film has some very surprising twists and some of the scenes look so unrealistic, but let me tell you one thing. If you really want to be a great musician, you have to watch this film... it may cause you to think about the whole idea twice. Of course, I can't forget to mention that this film has been nominated for Oscars in several categories. Bada-Bang! (That's supposed to be drums...)
