Beyond Borders

Penarth Pier Pavilion is delighted to invite you to ‘Beyond Borders’, a collaborative project, delivered by Dr. Natasha Mayo with help from you! Beyond Borders explores how creativity can encourage debate about asylum with local and refugee families by drawing parallels between the movement of the earth and the movement of man. Using the shoreline, the unique language of clay and a multidisciplinary cast of creative thinkers - from musicians / storytellers / illustrators / poets / geologists and representatives from the refugee council - we will come together to inform and inspire!

2016 has been an incredibly exciting year for road running in Wales with the huge success of the IAAF/Cardiff University World Half Marathon Championships in March showcasing our fabulous city, world-class performances and flat, fast and iconic course. In our 14th edition of the Cardiff Half Marathon we are extremely excited to welcome Cardiff University as our new title sponsor as we look forward to record numbers once again gracing the streets of Cardiff on the 2nd October.

Welsh favourite Rhydian will play sadistic dentist Orin Scrivello. Rhydian rose to fame as a runaway success on ITV’s X Factor. Since then he has sold in excess of a million albums worldwide, released 6 albums and duetted and performed with some of the biggest names in the music industry. His many theatre credits include Grease, We Will Rock You, The War of the Worlds, Jesus Christ Superstar and the 40th Anniversary Tour of The Rocky Horror Show. Rhydian has just completed his third solo UK tour and is a Classical Brit Award nominee.

Sixteen-year-old Jacob Portman (Asa Butterfield) has grown up listening to his grandfather's bizarre stories of the residents of a strange and mysterious island orphanage known as Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiars. When the old man dies in mysterious circumstances, he leaves young Jacob clues that set him on an extraordinary quest. What he finds is a magical place, spanning different worlds and times, whose residents possess astonishing abilities. But they are also under threat from sinister monsters. Now it's up to Jacob to use his own 'peculiarity' to save them.

Bring as many items as you like (in good condition) from 5pm, and collect your tokens (one token per item). We will stamp your hand so you can come back later at 6pm. Your token will allow you to ‘buy’ one item to take home with you. Have nothing to swap? Buy tokens for £1 each at the door. We accept men’s and women's (but not children's) clothes, shoes, accessories and jewellery No underwear, swimwear, nightwear, prescription glasses or pierced earrings.
