Marathon. 1 Cause: SAVE LIVES!
You might be thinking, “What? A marathon to save lives? How is this
possible?!”.
Well
yes. It is possible!
The
name of this race is “March for
Men”
and it is a charity marathon to raise funds for Prostate Cancer. It
is
a family-friendly event where you can walk along Pontcanna Fields and
have fun with your friends
or your family while you are helping to fight cancer.
The
purpose of the charity is to raise funds needed for vital research
into the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer, with the aim of
saving men’s lives. To collect money the charity encourages
walkers to back their campaign by completing a 2 km, 5 km or 10 km route
around the park.
What
you need to know:
-
There is a registration fee of £10 and a suggested fundraising target of £50
-
Children under 18 are free but have to be accompanied by a guardian over 18
-
All routes will be signed and marshalled (no need for a map)
The marathon will take place at Pontcanna
Fields on Sunday
16th June 2019, from 10:00am until 3:00pm.
There
isn't any age restrictions and dogs are welcome of course.
It
is also the Father's day, so what are you waiting for?! Take the whole family and participate in
the March for
Men! Now we just have to hope the weather is good for our walkers and runners, else it will be a very muddy trek through the fields! We wish everyone participating the best of luck!
